Finding fancy summer dresses can sometimes be a daunting task, but sugarcube in Old City never lets me down. Weddings certainly do not sneak up on you, but I was silly and put off buying a dress for….months. Then, there I was, a week before my friends’ big day, with nothing to wear. I couldn’t have been happier (and more relieved!) to stumble upon this dress. I shop at sugarcube when I’ve got some extra cash to throw down (they’re a tad pricey) but their clothes and accessories are gorgeous and worth browsing through, even while on a budget, simply for inspiration. I try to treat myself to a purchase there every few months.
I tried on about three dresses total, and this one was easily my favorite. A closer runner up was a one shouldered black & white dress, which my boyfriend LOVED. I can rock a one shouldered dress - I feel my body was made for them. But with all the dancing I knew I’d be doing, I had a feeling I’d run into trouble. I needed to be able to wear both bra straps, not just one, and I knew that in all the photos my bust would be lopsided. Also, it’s a rule that I always get sunburnt in a tank top the day before I wear a one shouldered dress. Also, the pattern was pretty but somewhat washed out against my porcelain hue and the belt loops, made out of flimsy thread, were already falling apart.
My dress of choice for the shindig was The Dresden Dress by Dear Creatures. In person, the color was a darker, more blueish green, and the small fit like a glove with plenty of room for my bust and a lined skirt, with sleeves to boot! The cut wasn’t too low, and I paired it with brown open toe heels to show my seafoam green nail polish and gold jewelry.

We had an awesome time celebrating the marriage of Kate & Deen! I danced the night away with some of my oldest and closest friends and neighbors. A gentleman at the wedding told Scott he looks just like Justin Timberlake. I was flattered WAY more than I should have been - but seriously, how exciting is it for a girl to be dating a JT doppleganger?! (I should note that Scott was looking pretty dapper himself in a sweet J. Crew tweed suit…my man!)
